Tribute to Mary Helen – Michele

 

Dear Richard,

 

I am devastated.  I spoke to Chali this morning and just found out.  My heart goes out to you and Chali.  I planned on calling you but thought I'd wait til Sunday after Chali arrives.

 

I know she plans to ask you, but she asked if I would come to Atlanta later next week (probably the weekend of the 15^th) . . . if it's ok.  I told her that I could stay at a hotel as I know this is a private time for you and I don't want to intrude..  I would really like to be there for Chali (and you too of course), if that's ok – even if it's just for a few days next weekend and I can stay near by and be there when/if either of you need me.

 

Thank you for sharing this wonderful tribute to Mary Helen.  My life was richer for having known her.  I was thinking back to some of my fondest memories of her this morning as I was talking to Roger on my drive in.  She had a beautiful spirit.  I told Chali this morning that, to me, her greatest gift was bringing/raising a wonderful daughter into this world.  Of course she had many other wonderful qualities and gifts…but to me, I'm most thankful she had Chali.  The other thing that was forefront in my thoughts was the love you two shared.  In a world of not many examples of "true love", I think your love for each other reached a level that many dream to have.  Your "true love" is an inspiration to me and will continue to be.
